Aral Sea is a lake that is very famous in his country. This lake lies between Kazakhstan in the north and Karakalpakstan, an autonomous region of Uzbekistan in the south. Formerly one of the four largest lakes in the world with an area of 68,000 square kilometers (26,300 sq mi), the Aral Sea has shrunk steadily since the 1960s after the river feeding it diverted by Soviet irrigation projects.
In 2007 declining to 10% of its original size, splitting into four lakes - the North Aral Sea and the eastern and western basins of South Sea once much larger and one smaller lake Aral between North and South Aral Sea.
In 2008, the water level in the lake has increased by 24 m (79 feet) from the lowest level in 2007.
In 2009, southeast of the lake had disappeared and west of the lake retreated to a thin strip at the northwest tip of the southern former.
At present according to some scientists, the shrinking of the Aral Sea has been called "one of the worst disasters on the planet environment"
